Facts about public housing?
In attempt to promote racial harmony and to balance racial mix
within public housing estates, the Ethnic Integration Policy was
introduced in March 1989. This policy is concern with maintaining
prescribed block and neighbourhood proportions in each ethnic group.
Resale of flats to a particular ethnic group is restricted if it
increases the proportion of the affected ethnic group beyond the
prescribed limit in the block or neighbourhood. However, no restriction
is imposed on sellers and buyers from the same ethnic group as it
will not further increase the ethnic group's proportion in the block
or neighbourhood. This policy is applied consistently to all ethnic
groups.
Singapore’s Transportation
Singapore has one of the world best transportation service in the
world. The main public transports are the Mass Rapid Transit (MRT),
Light Rail Transit (LRT) and Public Bus Services.
Although Singapore transportation modes prove effective for fellow,
we did not stop but continue to improve the efficiency for our transportation
to a higher level. With this in mind, we have created 2 amazing
technology in for our transportation need.
This first is the Electronic Road Pricing System (ERP). We are the
first in the world to use Radio Frequency ID technology to effectively
track and manage road traffic volume at different times of the day.
This traffic management tool is an electronic toll system that deducts
prescribed road price from a stored value smart card inserted in
a Radio Frequency ID based in-vehicle unit.
The other is the ez-link card. It is a new-generation stored value
contactless smart card that communicates with the ez-link reader
using radio wave via wireless communication. According to www.ezlink.com.sg,
this card improves boarding time for buses by as much as 50% and
allows 40 people to pass through the MRT fare gantry using the ez-link
card for same time that it takes 25 people to pass through using
the old payment mode.
